Name:logan_watcher
Bio:Name: Logan Guevera
Date of Birth: February 17, 1984
Age: 27 years old
Height: 6'
Weight: 170 lbs.
Hometown: New Rochelle, New York

Strengths: Intelligent, persistent, isanely-hard worker, good writer

Weaknesses: Hard to connect with at times, too focused on the job, cynical

Background information: Logan Guevera isn't like most other Watchers. For one, he's not British, nor is he old, nor is he stuffy. In fact, on the surface, he seems like any other investigative journalist -- always baggy-eyed from lack of sleep and sporting several days' worth of stubble because of all the time he spends doing his job.

And the truth is that, for the most part, Logan is a typical investigative journalist; ever since he was nine, Logan wanted to be a reporter. To run around town, lighting up cell phone after cell phone looking for the story, finding the scoop, digging deeper than the rest of his colleagues to find out the truth behind everything from local restaurant health code violations to what the police are really doing about an alleged cocaine ring.

Logan received his undergraduate degree at Columbia, one of the world's foremost schools of journalism. He got his degree in 2002 and was immediately accepted into the graduate program at NYU. He'd landed an internship in the sports department of The New York Times, the foot-in-the-door kind of shot he needed to make his mark on the profession.

But that was until he met Johnathan Saunderson, journalism professor at NYU. Saunderson took an instant liking to Logan, and the young New York native thought it was simply because of his passion for reporting. They talked at great length about the current events of the world, and Saunderson often took stances that Logan found … rather odd.

Then came 2003. Logan saw the news; small town in California reduced to a crater. Local news reports claiming massive earthquake, something seismic resulting in the destruction of Sunnydale. But Saunderson insisted that wasn’t the case, spinning some tale in class of a mass conspiracy. Military exercises, he claimed. Secret operations looking into the supernatural gone horribly wrong.

Everyone in the class thought Saunderson a loon, crazier than the talking heads on CNN screaming terrorism theories, but Logan decided to talk to him one-on-one about it all. That was when Saunderson dropped a bomb; telling Logan the Sunnydale incident was a battle against The First Evil and that the battle resulted in the activation of hundreds, maybe thousands, of Slayers. Now convinced Saunderson lost it, Logan was about to leave his office and drop his class.

But Saunderson convinced Logan to stick around, saying he needed to show the young man something. He took Logan to a cemetery, stood for nearly an hour in front of a fresh grave. Saunderson held a sharp piece of wood in his hand, and jabbed it into the chest of a … thing that crawled from the grave. The monster turned to dust and Logan freaked, running off into the night, eyes wide with disbelief.

For days, Logan didn’t go to class, too freaked to do much of anything, let alone talk to a man who told him vampires were real and that there were girls out there built to fight them. One night, Logan decided to return to the cemetery. Holding a stake, he paced about the graveyard for hours, until he saw one of those … things rising.

He kneeled to get a closer look, grimacing at the sight of the feral eyes and the fangs. Logan had seen a vampire – really seen one – for the first time, and he nearly forgot to stake it when it lunged at him and pinned him to the ground. Logan, mindful of the karate his dad made him endure as a kid, used every move he could to avoid the fangs. Somehow, the wood lodged in the vampire’s chest, and it exploded all over Logan, leaving dust on his coat.

Soon after, Logan again confronted Saunderson, demanding to know everything about the Slayer. Saunderson told him of the Council of Watchers, and Logan immediately set out for London. His career in journalism long dead by this point, Logan was consumed with the idea of vampires and the Slayer -- or Slayers, as the case was. And once he met with the head of the Council, Rupert Giles, Logan found a new calling in life: he was to be a Watcher.

Logan's training was long and frustrating, his journalistic sensibilities making much of what he was learning and studying hard to believe. But Logan graduated from the Academy in five years' time, though he developed almost no personal bonds with anyone.

Logan was anxious to be assigned to a Slayer, well aware of the shortage of qualified Watchers. So many Slayers and hardly anyone to guide them ... yet Logan spent almost a year working within the Council's headquarters. But Rupert sent him to Las Vegas on an undercover mission, expressing concern over the well-being of a Slayer there: Samantha Blanchard.

Logan was not to engage or reveal himself to Samantha, but keep tabs on her. So Logan wound up with a job at The Clark County Beacon as an investigative journalist, where he could follow up on Samantha and report back to the Council when necessary.

Yet Logan still feels the desire to guide a Slayer, to do his part in the Council's war against the demons.

UPDATE: After vampires and demons became public knowledge, Logan quit his job with the newspaper and eventually left Las Vegas. He drifted for just over a year before eventually finding himself in Chicago, without much purpose or idea of what to do now that he's largely on his own.

Logan is a fictional character belonging to the community 'City Limits'.
